NHAI takes over CPR (central peripheral road) project in NCR

The Central Peripheral Road (CPR) project will be handed over to National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), with Huda failing to construct the 3.2km stretch despite acquiring 102 acres of land for Rs 700 crore around six months ago. CPR will be constructed along with the remaining portion of the Northern Peripheral Road (NPR), also known as Dwarka expressway. The decision has been prompted by the failure of Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) to excute the project despite having acquired 102 acres of land for the project.

The 27km-long Dwarka expressway — 18km in Gurgaon and 9km in Delhi — starts from Rangpuri in the national capital and ends at Kherki Daula village on NH-8 in Gurgaon. Out of the 18km stretch in Gurgaon, Huda has completed construction of 14.5km but the remaining portion is incomplete due to the delay in rehabilitation of oustees. On the other hand, NHAI has already started the land acquisition for the Delhi portion of Dwarka expressway.

Dwarka expressway has been declared as a national highway and we have to hand over the road to NHAI. CPR was proposed to connect NPR with the Southern Peripheral Road (SPR). Huda is already facing funds shortage and it would be better if NHAI constructs and maintains CPR as well. Huda will soon hand over the land acquired for the CPR project to NHAI.
The completion of CPR — which will connect Dwarka expressway with SPR and NH-8 — will significantly reduce the traffic load on the Gurgaon stretch of NH-8 and will ensure smooth flow of traffic from NH-8 to NPR, NPR to SPR and vice versa.

The road will also reduce the traffic load on NH-8, particularly near Kherki Daula, as vehicles coming from the Delhi side through NPR will be able to go directly towards Faridabad or Sohna Road through SPR, avoiding the highway. At present, all vehicles that pass through Gurgaon or go anywhere in the city are forced to use NH-8, leading to traffic jams in most parts.

YEIDA to hand over 6000 plots and flats in three months

YEIDA Authority is getting ready to hand over possession of more than 6000 residential plots and flats in the next three months. Some 3055 allottees have already been issued possession letters by authority in January and February this year. 6,029 plots and flats will located in sectors 18, 20, 22A and 22D. While 435 plots will be handed over in pockets 2A and 2C in Sector 18, 666 plots will be handed over in pockets O and Q in Sector 20. 900 plots will also be given in Sector 22D, while 4,028 flats will be handed over in Sector 22A. They had given possession to 55 allottees holding plots measuring 400 metres in pockets A and B of Sector 20. Elaborating on the plots already allotted. “3,000 plots of 300 metres and 500 metres have also been given to allottees in pockets I and J of Sector 18 and in pockets U and T in Sector 20.”

In principle, approved the distribution of Rs 65 crore as enhanced compensation to farmers whose land had been acquired within another month.

According to YEIDA officials, allottees are facing a delay in securing possession of their plots due to farmer agitations.

Farmers from over 77 villages in the area have been agitating for a hiked compensation of 64.7% for their acquired land. In August 2014, the Uttar Pradesh government had directed YEIDA to pay enhanced compensation to farmers.
